Beware Of Darkness Vs The Black Keys

There hasn’t been many bands to put up… even a close fight since the dudes of Beware Of Darkness made their return to the ring. With that said, tonight will be their toughest match-up to date. I’m bringing in a duo powerhouse for the ultimate test!

You may have heard of a little known group from Akron, Ohio? Consisting of singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney.

The Black Keys will be throwing down a brand new track from their latest disc ‘El Camino’ in tonight’s battle. After tonight, will the champions only be two wins away from my “Rock of Fame”? Or will TBK become the new hunted?

This is all up to you!

The band that proudly produced what they coined as “punk rock for sissies” is back and ready to deliver on a promise made late last year: To give fans a new album by summer. The Sound of the Life of the Mind is now set to hit stores September 18th, funded entirely by fans.

Ben Folds Five crowd-funded their new album with help from over 7,000 fans via the Kickstarter-like site called PledgeMusic.

Depending on the amount pledged, fans are set to receive special items, the most impressive of which can purchased for $2500. This jumbo donation will get you a custom recorded version of “Do It Anyway” with your name woven into the final verse. With some limited-edition items having already sold out, the following are still available in exchange for a pledge: New CD, vinyl copy (unsigned), tour t-shirt & download, new CD + tour t-shirt & download, framed limited-edition Bonnaroo photo, signed & framed setlist collection from Mountain Jam and lastly your name in a song.Watch Ben Folds Five PledgeMusic intro video.

With a street date of September 25th, No Doubt fans are frothing at the mouth to get more of their favorite ska band’s forthcoming release titled Push and Shove.

For the album’s first single, the band teamed up once more with friend and director Sophie Muller to capture the essence of Gwen’s lyrics in “Settle Down.”

The foursome are first seen driving neon-lit Japanese Dekotora-style big rigs. Completely lost, all four stretch out maps across the steering wheels trying to figure out where they’re headed, only to find out they share a destination. Gwen, Tom, Adrian and Tony meet up for what becomes a huge dance party.

No Doubt are back.

Famed music video director Hype Williams has pushed Jack White to new heights, or new lows, for Blunderbuss‘s latest single “Freedom 21.”

In the just-released video,” White plays an outlaw running the cops while a female Highway Patrol officer turns her attention to more than just ticketing the speed demon. In this Grindhouse style video, White’s visit to jail finds him a woman that just can’t keep her hands to herself. In what could be his sexist video yet, we’re also treated to some of the best guitar shredding in modern rock.

In a recent interview with CBS Local, White revealed that he actually did his own stunt driving, taking the beautiful bright green vintage HEMI ‘Cuda for joy ride in the canyons outside Los Angeles.

Between the ultra-fast guitar riffs and tattooed women writing all over White, “Freedom 21″ is a must see. Watch closely as there’s a cameo at the end from another rock legend.Watch this face-melting video.

Beware Of Darkness Vs Matt & Kim

Beware Of Darkness last week steam rolled every competitor that stood in their way. We’re not talking just a few push over the course of the week. They took down the likes of M83… twice, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers and A Place To Bury Strangers.

The challengers, Matt & Kim are an / duo from Brooklyn, New York consisting of Matt Johnson (vocals, keyboards) and Kim Schifino (drums, vocals). Formed in 2004. They have released three albums: “Matt & Kim” (2006), “Grand” (2009) and “Sidewalks” (2010).

Matt & Kim may have gained substantial international recognition over the years. However, not sure if that will propel them past the champions who are looking to knock out their seventh victory in tonight’s battle!
